There is this place downtown that I absolutely adore. It`s this place called "cafe crepe" and it is just great. A place that specializes in crepes? I am SO there.
Even though one time I went there, the service sucked a little. (I`m being very nice about it actually. It sucked big time)
So we get a seat, all is good. They don`t come to our table for 20 minutes, which is okay, since I was catching up with a friend I haven`t seen in some time. When they finally came, we just ordered our drinks and food at the same time, since we didn`t know how long they would be to come back again for our food order. 15 minutes pass, and the waitress comes back saying "sorry, we lost your order, can you please tell us what you wanted again?" Since we are the most patient and respectable customers on the planet, we smile and give our orders again, even though we are starving!
15 minutes later, they give us our drinks. Don't get me wrong, the drinks were awesome: nutella milkshake. Do I need to say more? I will recreate it one day... Then 20 minutes later, our food finally gets to us. Sadly, we have no drink with our meal (20 minutes is a long time to nurse a delicious nutella milkshake) but it still tasted great.
This just goes to show to what extent I LOVE crepes. I will wait patiently for over an hour to get some. But, I have never actually made them at home.
But this has now changed! I never knew just how easy it is, or I would have made them sooner.
What you`ll need:
-1 egg
-1 egg yolk
-1 cup skim milk
-1 1/2 teaspoons butter, melted
-2/3 cup all-purpose flour, sifted
+nutella
+bananas
Directions:
1. In a medium bowl, beat together the egg, egg yolk and butter. Mix in the milk and flour until fully incorporated.
2. Heat a large skillet on medium-high. Pour 1/4 cup of batter and tilt the pan to coat the surface completely. Flip after one minute, and remove after 30 seconds on the other side.
3. Spread nutella on the crepes, and top with bananas. Enjoy!

I like crepes and pancakes. Banana just makes it more delicious as the filling. I think I will caramalised the bananas to make it more flavourful if you don't mind!

ReplyDeleteThe word crêpe is coming from the Latin crispa, which means “curled”, and refers to a type of really thin pancake. Crêpes are usually cooked with wheat flour. It is completely flat and usually have a filling or spread. In addition, crêpes are entirely unleavened, while standard pancakes do have a leavener of some kind. Although, in terms of origin, one could argue that they are just the French way of reproducing the German pancake
